Goal
Produce a 5-minute teaching video for graduate engineers, introducing how robotic systems can contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an in-depth case study on one SDG and its ethical implications.
What I did
- A 5-minute narrated and subtitled video covering: an introduction to service and industrial robot classifications (IFR definitions), an overview of the 17 UN SDGs and why they matter, a survey of robotic applications across the goals, and a focused case study.
- Case study — SDG 15: Life on Land. Explored how autonomous legged robots could support forest management and biodiversity monitoring in terrain that is physically demanding, remote, or hazardous for human workers.
- A balanced ethics section weighing the benefits of robotic labour in forestry against trade-offs in rural employment, regulatory gaps, and the question of trust when autonomous systems operate inside protected ecosystems.
